How we work

Our unwavering commitment to safety, the environment, our community, nurturing Indigenous relationships, and above all our team.

Committed to safety

Safety is paramount at BA Blacktop. Our Goal Zero philosophy, integrated into our business strategy, aims to protect our people, partners, and clients from workplace health risks. We are ISO 45001 certified and have been BCCSA COR members since 2003, setting industry-leading standards across all operations.

Health and safety evolve throughout a project’s lifecycle, so we engage our skilled workforce to manage risks holistically. Through cooperation and consultation, we strive for continual improvement and safer methods of delivery.

Education is key. We hold an annual International Safety Day to promote health and wellbeing, ensuring every employee understands their role in preventing accidents and changing behavior.

Committed to the environment

BA Blacktop believes every employee is responsible for protecting and improving our environment through sustainable development. Our team integrates environmental protection into all services, considering economic, environmental, and social sustainability throughout a project’s lifecycle.

With experience in sensitive environmental settings in the Lower Mainland, we deliver projects that minimize environmental impacts using cost-effective controls and management systems. Since receiving ISO 14001:2015 certification in 2019, our commitment to environmental sustainability is consistently upheld across all levels of our organization, ensuring Best Management Practices in all construction activities.

Committed to the community and others

BA Blacktop is dedicated to building healthy communities by supporting over 20 local community groups, Indigenous Groups, and charities each year. Our commitment to numerous events and causes benefits people throughout BC and beyond.

We also support associations focused on social and professional integration in Canada through the VINCI Canada Fund (administered by Myriad Canada). Funded by donations from VINCI’s companies in Canada, the fund promotes initiatives to combat exclusion and encourage professional integration. Our support includes employee sponsorships and financial assistance.

Commitment to Indigenous relationships

BA Blacktop is dedicated to recognizing and respecting the rights of Indigenous People in Canada. We aim to be a respectful, trustworthy neighbor and foster business relationships with First Nations in British Columbia.

We have a strong legacy of working with Indigenous organizations on various projects. As a member of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business it is important to us that our approach to Indigenous Relations considers the culture and values and respect for our indigenous partners. Through partnerships with Tsawwassen First Nation, Musqueam, Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation, we build trust and cooperation. We also develop relationships with other Indigenous groups, focusing on mutual interests and improving capabilities through employment, procurement, and community action.

Commitment to our team

BA Blacktop is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive work culture that extends its support beyond the workplace, reaching into the lives of our valued employees and their families. Our commitment to the well-being and happiness of our employee base is unwavering, and we recognize that family plays a pivotal role in their lives.

Our social events aim to bring together our employees and their loved ones in an atmosphere of friendship, relaxation, and fun. From family picnics, holiday celebrations, and team-building outings to kid-friendly focused events and sports tournaments, we ensure there’s something for everyone. These events create lasting memories, strengthen personal bonds, and foster a sense of belonging among our employees and their families.

Committed to Exemplarity

We are driven by our aim to set an example to all of our stakeholders.

In terms of corporate ethics, human rights and everything in between, we expect our teams to follow all regulations in force, in line with the commitments outlined in the VINCI Code of Ethics and Conduct and in our Manifesto.
